“Back to business” with 13,917 new businesses in Attica
After the… pandemic 2020 and the prolonged lockdown, many are those who decided to take advantage of the situation with the gradual return to normalcy, opening new businesses.
According to the data of the General Commercial Register for Attica, in the period January – September 2021, an impressive increase in the opening of new businesses was recorded.
The “x-ray” of new businesses
What kind and legal form of business did they open from January to September? As the data show, 4,975 IKE, 4,642 sole proprietorships were established, 1982 Limited Liability Companies, 1,320 General Liabilities, 667 Public Limited Companies, 165 Limited Liability Companies, 121 civil companies, 36 joint ventures and 9 Energy Communities.
Of the 13,917 companies established, most (1,883) are retail (excluding motor vehicles and motorcycles). The following companies are catering services (1,175), wholesale trade (1,150), real estate management (1,079), head office activities and management consulting (788), electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning (552), building construction ( 537), specialized construction activities (522).
The top 10 is completed by companies with computer programming and consulting activities (469) and personal service activities (402).
Data on business write-offs
In the nine months of January – September 2021, 2,684 companies were deleted. Most of those who were deleted were individual (725), the 570 IKE, 505 Omorrythmous, 314 Heterorhythmic, 280 EPE, 218 AE, 42 civil, 25 consortia, 2 Syn.PE and 1 of energy, society and Association of Persons.
In the top ten in terms of the type of companies deleted are retail (398), wholesale (329), personal services (94), electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning (91), building construction (91) 87), head office activities, management consulting activities (77), education (74), real estate management (72) and financial services and insurance related activities (70).
As the president of EVEP and PESA, Vassilis Korkidis, emphasizes, “in the midst of a pandemic, Greek businessmen are setting up new businesses, making a decisive contribution to the development of the economy and the creation of new jobs.” “Given the explosive growth of new businesses being created, it is certain that the year will end with positive signs for entrepreneurship in Attica.”
